When you use Save Translated Words, we collect:

Account data: your email address and a hash of your password (never the password itself)
API key: a hash of your extension API key (never the key itself)
Dictionary data: the words, translations, and notes you save
Translation text: the word/phrase you select is sent to our server to translate it and briefly cached to avoid re-charging our translation provider for repeat lookups

2. Payment Data

All payment and billing information is collected and processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. We never receive, store, or process your card details. See Paddle's Privacy Policy for how they handle your data.

3. How We Use Your Data

Providing and maintaining the Service
Processing your subscription
Providing customer support
Preventing fraud and abuse
Improving the Service

We do not use your personal data for marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with these third parties as needed to run the Service:

Paddle.com — payment processing (Merchant of Record)
DeepL — the text you translate is sent to DeepL's API to generate the translation
Netlify — application hosting
Resend — transactional email delivery (password reset, account alerts)

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep it longer.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you're in the EU/EEA/UK, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of your personal data
Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
Erasure — request deletion of your data
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
Objection — object to certain processing of your data

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies only, to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party tracking cookies, and the extension doesn't set cookies on pages you browse.
